Halloween

OK . . . I just must address those who actually mistakenly somehow have it in their little narrow brains that Halloween is somehow the Devil's holiday. Oh my, people. Oh my indeed. Do these people ever read history? Apparently not. Halloween is All Hallows' Eve. The day before All Saint's Day.
Wearing costumes like witches and the such DOES NOT IN ANY ANY WAY "INVITE" your so called Satan into your soul. My my, people, sigh.
But as for us so called witches, those who follow Wicca, a way of life that honors and celebrates nature, we DO NOT even believe in your "Satan". We honor this world, all in it, and all the cosmos. Our way of life is "Do no harm".
The tradition of placing a Jack-O-Lantern in the window is actually to ward off evil spirits. To place a candle in your window is to invite your ancestors into your home. Halloween is to honor our ancestors. Here is the prayer for Halloween evening:
"We remember our ancestors on this Samhain night. We call upon the past & celebrate this night, as the portals open & the veil between the worlds is thin, & those of the spirit realm roam the earth tonight."

Which US states tip the most (and least)

My father always over tipped. Therefore I also over tip. Shame on those who under tip or leave only 10%, and double same on those who don’t tip at all. I have never worked as a waitress, but have worked as a bartender and have known, and still know, and work with, waiters and waitresses. NO, this is not simply a temporary job while people are in school to become some high paying “professional”; this IS THE profession for many people. Get over the narrow minded idea that waitstaff don’t deserve a living wage.
Alaska is number one for high tipping.  Arkansas is number two.  Seems like the states that are among the poorest tip the best.  Maybe because they KNOW being a wait person is sometimes the only job available AND a lot of people you may know are waitresses and waiters.

MICHAEL VICK

To “believe” animal abusers can change is naive.  Those who torture and murder without feeling are damaged.  Don’t be fooled.

Question:  Would you invite a child molester and murderer into your home with your children?  No?  OK.  Well would you invite an animal abuser and murderer into your home with you pets?  What if the “court” only gave them a year or two in prison and then the person said they had changed.  Would you trust them?  In theory you might want to give them a chance, but in reality would you really allow them in your home with your children or your pets?

“Anyone who has accustomed himself to regard the life of any living creature as worthless is in danger of arriving also at the idea of worthless human lives.”  ~Albert Schweitzer

To give an example.  During my Court Advocacy with D.A.W.G. - http://www.dawgsite.org/advocacy.html - one of the cases that I followed was a man who threw his girlfriend’s small dog against a door, rendering the little dog brain dead, thus having to be put down.  Approximately a year later this same man was arrested for murdering the brother of his new girlfriend.

“A good deed done to an animal is as meritorious as a good deed done to a human being, while an act of cruelty to an animal is a bad as an act of cruelty to a human being.”—Prophet Mohammed

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers

If a Republican's lips are moving, they are lying. . . .

The last State of the Union Address, they had a Hispanic do the rebuttal. . .  Duh . . . At that time hey were attempting to show they were NOT against minorities.

Now they stick this woman up there in an attempt to show they are not anti-women's rights. . . . . Do they think those of us who can reason will fall for this?

Kind of like their ill conceived idea of running that numb nut Sarah Palin with poor McCain in an attempt pull in all us Hillary supporters; thinking we were so pissed that the Democrats threw her under the bus for Obama.

Yo, Republicans, Abe Lincoln is rolling in his grave.

At least the Tea Party rebuttal to the State of the Union Address was given by a fat white man.  They ain't trying to kid anyone.

Duck Dynast - Phil Robertson

OK.  I know this is old news.  Somehow this crap supporting the Robertsons of Duck Dynasty just keeps popping up here and there on Facebook.  Some people are STILL harping on, and wallowing in, the fact that the network (A&E) hired the man back and keeping the show on the air.

So I am going to finally put my two cents in.

Hate these guys. Filthy animal murderers. Shudder.  They are disgusting and dirty nasty.  . . .

Now: Yes, they have the right to say any anti-Christian bigoted Neanderthal shit they want, and yes, if what Phil Robertson says looses money for the network, the network should have the right to get rid of his ass. However, people can be dog fighters and become NFL Quarterbacks too. (Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles . . .  don't get me started on THAT one.)  AND the rest of us progressive people have the right to call attention to these type of assholes for being a role model for yahoo backwoods dick wads.

And as for this shit about defending his so called "Christian" values; every REAL Christian should stand up and tell the world they DO NOT support these guys way of using religion to justify their bigotry and ignorance. I was raised Christian and I am ashamed that there are those out there that hide behind the religion to spread hatred and stupidity. These guys DO NOT represent what Jesus stood for. They are just the opposite.  They also DO NOT represent what America stands for!  Take off those red white and blue outfits, ass holes. You are the example of why we have such a reputation throughout the world.

When we attack these Neanderthals we ARE NOT attacking Christianity. We are attacking their bastardization of Christianity. . . . I am proud of people like my Aunt who is a church going Christian and is appalled by people like this. Hurray for her. More REAL Christians must wake up and see the light. . . . Seriously. Think about this. Don't let yourself be bamboozled by those who have values that don't really gel with what you feel in your heart. Stand up to them. Don't be afraid to be your own person. . . .

One final little something to consider . . . Fanatical Muslims have the same beliefs and say the same things as these fanatical backwoods "so called" Christian men. How would you react if it were Muslin men saying these things? Would you support them then? Would you be all up in arms with these religious freedom screams? Bet not. So what is the difference?

Bill Maher Rages At Christian Hypocrites

I would like to add MY story to this wonderful commentary by Bill Maher.  (Which can be seen by clicking the link at the bottom.)

My first hand example of being exposed to such people.   . . . .

I am an entertainer.  I do magic and balloons at restaurants as well as at parties.  Last week I was working at a restaurant doing magic and balloons at the tables.  One of the tables only had a few people, a couple of kids, too, so I assumed not everyone was there yet.  While they were waiting for others to arrive I decided to go over and make balloons for the kids that were there.  The woman at the table rudely said they did not want me there.  So I left but said if they change their minds to let me know.  Later that evening one of the wait people told me that the table in question wanted me to come over.  I made balloons animals for all the kids.  Now, I thought maybe something was a "little different" about these people because the older girl was wearing a very plain blouse and a plain skirt down to her feet.  One of the other younger girls looked, well, kind of like someone from "Deliverance.  Maybe a little inbred.  Hate to say that, but that was my impression.  The only man at the table was wearing a cowboy hat.

Well, after they all got balloons I started doing a little magic for them.  When I made bunnies appear in the older girl's hand she looked scared and said that they didn't believe in magic.  I tried to explain to the kids AND the adults that this is NOT magic, it is simply tricks and entertainment, like when they go to the movies, Superman can't REALLY fly!  They would have no part of it.

Then as a "TIP" the older girl gave me a little pamphlet.  The man in the cowboy hat said it was about Jesus.  Not being TOO RUDE I just put it on the table, said "no", and walked away.  I then went to the next table and everyone was laughing and enjoying my entertainment.  Looking back at the table full of sad faces, all I could think was what a shame that these kids must grow up with fear as their guide in life.  Oh, and that attempting to convert me instead of tipping me is there way of saying thank you.  Sick.  Sorry, I have no patience for these people.  Go drink your cool-aid.

Denial-of-service tool targeting Healthcare.gov site discovered

Tea Bagger Repugs have always been willing to cut their noses off to spite their faces. . . . They had rather live in a ruined country than admit they were wrong.
